Deer and Bear Crossing

I was going to Mountain Air Sports with my father on Friday to procure some excellent hiking boots, when I saw an addition to the standard "Deer Crossing" sign on the highway.

Right underneath the sign warning you that deer could run across the road at any time they have added a bear crossing.

Bear crossing? Since when? I would be more likely to believe mountain lion crossing before I believe bear crossing.

I haven't heard of any bears crossing the 101. I haven't heard of any accidents or near-misses or sightings.

Why bears? Where did they come from? What are they doing here?

I've never seen one.
I'm thinking about waking up early tomorrow to try and catch some early-morning bear crossings. I need to see it to believe it. I'll bring my camera.

Watching the Sunset

So, I was going through my posts to work on some drafts I had saved. I noticed I had saved a post with only the words, "I think" which was bound to be brilliant, I'm sure, but more importantly I found this whole post, basically ready to be posted. The pictures aren't in their usual center format, but whatev.

I had completely forgotten about this event.
The following was dated August 8, 2007, 3:43 PM:



I spent some time with my friends last Sunday, under the pretense of watching the sun set.
Unfortunately, when we got there, it looked like this:



Everyone decided it was still a good idea to head off to the beach, even though it looked spooky and the fog was thick around us. We climbed down and took our hike under the Eucalyptus. Unfortunately, our hike led us away from those trees and into a crazy world of stinging nettle, poison oak, overgrown bushes and cobwebs.

Okay, I made up that part about cobwebs, but I was sure I was going to run into some at any moment.

At last we made it to the beach where we found more fog, high tide, and something that smelled horrible, which must have been attracting all the flies that attacked us.

It turns out the beach we went to was called Hazard Canyon.

No joke man, no joke.

Athletic Shoe Repair Compound

One of my athletic shoes came apart just a bit. I needed to glue it back together. I've been uncertain what kind of glue to use on my athletic shoes. I would look around the house for different glues but didn't find anything I thought would work.

That's when I realized that I needed to look outside the box (or house) so I went into Dad's shed, he showed me the glue drawer, and lo and behold I found something called the Athletic Shoe Repair Compound.

Perfect.

Thanksgiving?

I have kind of forgotten about Thanksgiving. I don't really know how it happened, but suddenly people are going out of town and people are coming into town and I was looking around wondering why. And then it hit me, "Oh.. Thanksgiving is this week. Duh."

So how come I spaced on Thanksgiving this year? Is it because I am no longer on a school oriented time table?

Wait... that doesn't make sense, I was out of school last Thanksgiving, too. Does anyone have any ideas? How did I not realize Thanksgiving was upon us?

Is it the lack of Thanksgiving themed decor in my home?

Probably.

Good Show

I just wanted to say thanks to the tree in front of our house for giving us such a good show. I walk right by that tree every day and sometimes I don't notice it. I don't know how I can miss it, it's doing all it can to catch my attention.

Anyway, I'm sorry Tree, for ignoring you. You are amazing, and truly awe inspiring.

Maybe I'll write a poem about you and then read it over the pulpit during my next talk.

I did it! I was officially the last one eating at dinner tonight! I kicked Marie's trash!!!!

I would like to thank SLO 3rd Ward for providing food after church, so when I made it home I wasn't desperate for food.

I would like to thank my mother, who made a salad with many little nooks and crannies which enabled me to eat the salad very slowly, one nook or cranny at a time.

I would like to thank Mary for giving me a headband to look cute, I would like to thank Grandma for being her natural charming self, and I would like to thank Marie for bringing some friendly competition to the dinner table.

And finally, I would like to thank Dad, who gave me a reassuring nod and asked, "Going for the title?" which gave me the courage to really finish strong and finally accomplish my dream.

Thank you to everyone who made suggestions for my listening pleasure.

I downloaded an embarrassing amount of songs, and after hanging with my iPod for a while, I feel like I am able to tell you which songs I am enjoying the most right now. This list includes songs I have recently purchased and songs I've had for awhile. I wasn't sure what kind of order to list them in, my iPod doesn't have a play count (as far as I know) so I will put them in order of perceived play count, highest to lowest.
