In Love

I'm in love with Apolo Anton Ohno.

It all started in 2002, but I didn't fall head over heels until 2006. In 2006 I was living in Rexburg and I was majorly excited about the Winter Olympics. Somehow, none of my roommates at the time had any idea that there even was a Winter Olympics. In fact, one of my roommates insisted on watching Law and Order reruns instead of the Olympics. What?

I had to educate them. The best way is to show Apolo racing. I even printed out a picture of Apolo and hung it on our wall. When I moved, Apolo was moved to my car, where he rode around with me until his picture got too faded. In this way I was able to share the Apolo love. I never should have done this. Now everyone loves him, and I want him all to myself.

Sigh.

Now, this year, the fire has burned even stronger. The question is, how am I going to get him to notice me? Mary suggested I start by buying a pair of ice skates. Tara suggested some things, but they weren't suggestions for me, they were suggestions for her. Lame.

So what do you think? Should I buy some ice skates?

Happ...

Tonight was a very festive dinner at the Cohen house.

First: the Olympics. We love the Olympics, and we were glued to the TV all night. Second: Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day adds a general festive mood, but the children were super excited about all the candy and hearts. Third: Grandma's birthday.

Yup, that's right, tonight we celebrated Grandmother being around for another year. During a commercial break we lit the candles and started singing to Grandma. We started singing with gusto, "Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happ..." And then she blew out the candles.
Everyone stopped singing to giggle, but we pulled it together to finish the song.

Later Grandma asked why we had started laughing. She said, "Was it because I blew out the candles too early? But I got it all in one blow. It's been so long since I've blown out candles that I guess I forgot."

Frisbee Guy Lived in SLO County?

Apparently he did. I find out crazy stuff about the area all the time, so I wasn't too surprised when I saw this in our local paper:

Birthday Weekend

My birthday weekend started with an excellent night of tacos, ice cream sundaes, and a surprise dog shaped cake made by Jodie! I do love dogs.

The next morning I jumped on a plane to go visit my friend Cassandra in Salt Lake City.

It was a most excellent weekend. My dream of dreams was to go snow shoeing, and Cassandra made it happen!

I also did some downhill skiing.

And, apparently it's not considered snow shoeing if you don't slide down a hill on your butt.

Later that night I went to see this girl:

And eat this cake:

And also get puked on. Yes, Taffy puked on my pants, but Paul happened to have his duck pants nearby so I slipped into those and Paul washed my jeans. It was fabulous. I had freshly laundered and pressed jeans.

Later, later that night we fulfilled another dream and we went to go visit the newish Draper temple.
