A Different FB FU

The other day I received a text from my father, "Went up Half Dome today. Very strenuous walk. I thought my heart was going to pound out of my chest!"

Naturally I shared this text with the person that was hanging at my house. She barely looked at me and said, "What's half dome?"

Crickets.

Once I gathered myself I realized I should try and be diplomatic about this surprising lack of knowledge, and quickly looked up a picture online. She was unimpressed.

I asked her, "So, what state are you from?"

I hoped that this would explain some things.

She said, "Washington."

Me, "The state...or dis..trict....?"

Her, "The state. West coast."

Me, "Oh."

Ever heard of Ansel Adams?

Or Yosemite?

Or California?

Oregon?

Puget Sound?

Obviously, we aren't kindred spirits.

Yikes, just posted, then got to thinking if my roommates knew what Half Dome was.

They don't.

One is from Kansas, the other from Illinois.

I don't/didn't know what Half Dome is/was. And I'm not ashamed.

wow that is shocking. but I guess that is life. Hey I am also glad that someone else is frustrated with the new way they changed the blog too. I thought it was only mine for a second and man it took me a little while to realize what was going on. I kept deleting all my pictures. I was so mad. have a wonderful adventure tomorrow. I wish you were here so we could go explore together

Puget Sound hahaha! Yeah, she's probably never heard of any of that. Maybe she didn't know there was a district, just a state? She sounds like someone who would be funny to observe.

Kinda crazy that someone from Washington wouldn't know. But then again I had never heard of half dome before I went to California, and Utah (my home) is about as far away as Washington...
